Man
goes into hiding after giving daughter poison
A Black Bush Polder man who gave his daughter poison
after beating her for money and accusing her of knowing
that his wife was unfaithful to him has gone into
hiding.
Kaieteur News understands that on April 27, around 15:00
hours the 13-year-old child Lesbeholden, Black Bush
Polder was at home while her mother was in their kitchen
garden.
At around the same time the accused returned home and
demanded money from the child to buy rum. She refused
and the man proceeded to beat her.
After collecting the money he carried her into the
kitchen and poured about a cork full of Gramaxone
and forced the child to drink, having accused her of
knowing that her mother was unfaithful.
The child drank about half the cork of poison and
subsequently collapsed and was rushed to the Mibicuri
Hospital where she was admitted.
However on Thursday her condition worsened and she was
transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital.
Hospital authorities then called the police and informed
them of the situation. The police have since been on the
hunt for the suspect, who has not yet been arrested.
