A goldsmith and his employees were yesterday afternoon assaulted and robbed of money and jewellery by four armed men who stormed the business place at Camp Street, North Cummingsburg. According to a police press release, Morsadeen Baksh, a goldsmith who operates at Camp Street was tending to his work when the men confronted him and four customers, ordering them to lie on the floor before robbing them. The men also assaulted Baksh and one of his employees, Morris Tappin, who had to be treated at a city hospital.
Baksh was relieved of US$1500, $60,000 Guyana currency, a cellular phone and a quantity of gold jewellery while his employees were relieved of silver jewellery and two cellular phones. The police are continuing their investigation. |
