Gunmen rob Mahaicony businessman
FOUR gunmen reportedly robbed a 49-year-old Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara businessman on Saturday night of more than G$233,000, in addition to an undisclosed amount of foreign currency and jewellery.


The Police said the incident occurred around 19:05h, while businessman Chetram Kirpaul, his wife Palamattie and son Navindra were in their shop at Recess, Mahaicony.

According to the police, the armed men entered the business premises and held up Kirpaul and his family.

They assaulted Kirpaul, then took his wife to the top floor of the building where she handed over the G$233, 000 in cash.

The criminals also made off with an undisclosed amount of U.S currency and jewellery, and escaped in a waiting motor car
